But there's much more to happiness than that.  It is not about waiting for the ideal time to feel happy; rather, it is about living in the now, appreciating the innumerable blessings in our life, and finding purpose in the small things.

 An excellent illustration of how pleasure is a decision rather than merely the result of outside circumstances is my uncle, who has endured many adversities.  In his early fifties, when many would have been struggling with self-doubt and depression, he lost his job.
